Prof Natalia Kucirkova

Professor of Reading and Early Childhood Development and Director of the International Centre for EdTech Impact (WiKIT)

Thursday 5 November, Faculty of Education, Room GS4

Talk 4:00pm – 5:00pm

Networking 5:00pm – 5:45pm

What kind of technology, for whom, under what conditions, and with what evidence of impact do we want?

Drawing on the ideas developed in The Great EdTech Pivot, Professor Natalia Kucirkova will argue for a fundamental shift from technology-led adoption towards evidence-led educational innovation.

The talk will examine why efficacy alone is insufficient, and why the next generation of EdTech must also be judged through questions of effectiveness, ethics, equity and environmental sustainability. It will outline what this pivot means for researchers, developers, investors and policymakers, and propose a new role for universities and learning science in shaping technologies that serve collective goals of education for all.

This event is being hosted by DEFI and the AI and Education Community.
